Walkin', Eatin' & Watchin'

Yesterday was another crisp, clear but cold day. After our Saturday morning foray to Kensington for dry goods, Mr.T and I made our way to his office where he had to tackle a few problems. We then went for a walk east along Carlton to Parliament, then south down to the Distillery District. We had no real agenda, just needing the walk to soak up some vitamin D. From there we walked along the Esplanade and coming to St. Lawrence Market we decided to have an eggplant sandwich from Mustachio's

We arrived after lunch so the place wasn't crazy busy but there were still lots of people collecting their Saturday groceries. The sandwiches are piled high with eggplant, tomato sauce and a selection of toppings that you can choose. We opted for tomato sauce and mushrooms, which still make it a big sandwich more than enough for two. They are always delicious and the perfect lunch on a cold, crisp day. From there we made our way home exhausted from the walk, our bodies are getting older than we think, for a relaxing Saturday night at home. TVO was playing The Diary of a Mad Housewife an incredible film that documents the anger, frustration and sexual awakening of a young married New Yorker back in 1970. The film traces not only the development of a young middle-class Manhattan women as she comes to terms with herself and her egocentric, abusive husband but also the development of feminism during the 1970s. It is a fascinating document of feminism, identity and Manhattan as it changes from the 1960s to the 1970s.
