A Perfect Spring Day
All week the temperature has been rising as the weather becomes more enjoyable and more spring-like. After making our way to Kensington for our dry goods Mr.Z invited us to join them for a trip out to Humber Nurseries. Although early in the season, the weather is making us all optimistic about getting a head start on our summer gardens. A trip to Humber is always a joy because they have such a great selection of plants, seeds and all things garden related. We picked up some periwinkle to fill in some holes in the front garden and lots of seeds for our raised vegetable beds in the back. While we can grow a lot of the veggies from seed, we will still pick up some in plant form; the tomatoes, peppers, eggplant and our herbs because they grow so much better with a head start.
Heading back into the city Mr.Z drove us to The Home Depot at The Stockyards so we could pick up three more of the low-profile LED lights. Their garden centre was also open and was packed with people excited about the warm weather. After The Home Depot we drove down to Bunner's for some vegan treats then back to Mr.D and Mr.Z's where Mr.Z made ratatouille for dinner. Mr.Z chopped up everything nice and thick placing it in cooking pans standing on end. He then drizzled it all with olive oil, chopped olives, lemon juice, garlic, salt and pepper and it came out really delicious and was the perfect meal for such a beautiful spring day. Ms.E joined us for dinner and it is always a pleasure to see her and hear the stories about her work. After dinner, Mr.D drove us home ending a perfect spring day with friends.
