A Sunday Film

Because it was promising to rain most of the day Mr.T and I decided to walk up to the Varsity Cinemas to catch an early morning showing of the new Spiderman film, Spiderman: Homecoming. We decided to use a couple of movie passes that Mr.D and Mr.Z gave Mr.T for his birthday. The film is the third launch in the Spiderman series bringing together Sony and Marvel for the first time.

This new Spiderman played by Tom Holland is younger than the other two series and features him in high school with a colour blind cast that made for a more representative feeling film. Following his introduction in Avengers: Civil War, this Spiderman is learning how to use his powers and how to navigate a new suit supplied by Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark. While I loved the original Spidey played by Toby Maguire, this new incarnation, while younger and a little more naive was just as good. It was light, fun and really entertaining, capturing the youthful teenage energy of the original Marvel superhero pitched to teenager boys.
